ALL PARTICIPANTS (INCLUDING NON-WINNERS) WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION

 

 

Long-lists, short-lists and final winner will be notified by email throughout the stages of the competition. 

A short video which will include the announcement of the top 3 winners will be broadcast on our You Tube channel on 1st July 2021, and will go live at 12 noon EAT. 

A link to the video will be provided on our website and social media platforms. 

The full details of finalists will be available on the website on 1st July, 2022.

No. If you want to submit a more recent version you have to enter again and pay the fee. You can withdraw your original entry by emailing admin@harambeeliteraryprize.com

No. You can only submit online or by post.

If the work was not published, you did not receive a cash prize and it has been substantially altered, then yes it is eligible.

Yes, though if you submit your entry at the same time, it’s on the understanding you will immediately withdraw from the Harambee Literary Prize if it wins elsewhere. Equally, if you win with us you should withdraw from any other competitions.

You can submit no more than 2 entries

Worldwide copyright remains with the author but we have unrestricted rights to first publish winning and highly commended entries. We also use excerpts for promotional material.

An author’s translation of their own work into English is eligible, but submitting a translation of someone else’s work is not permissible.

Entries are coded and automatically tagged with a number before being judged anonymously. Once the judges have made their decision, numbers on winning entries are matched to the entry form and corresponded with personal details.

Yes. But writers are required to submit their entries using their real names. When winners are selected we will consult with you on what name you want to use.

The long-list will be announced on 1st May, 2022; the short-list will be announced on 1st June, 2022; the final results will be announced on July 1st 2022 and posted on the website and social media. Entrants will be contacted at each stage.
